Pre-Registration Tutorial
Check the Academic Calendar for registration dates.
This walk-through is for Desktop users who have not yet established an Academic Plan.
Desktop Tutorial (with a Plan)
Step Listing
- Navigate to SOAR
- Log into SOAR
- Click on "Student Services (including Financial Aid)" link
- Click on "Student Registration and Planning"
- Click on "Register for Classes"
- Log In Again
- Select Your Term
- (OPTIONAL) If it Prompts for an Alternate PIN
- Click on "Enter CRNs"
- Add Classes
- Submit!
- (IMPORTANT) Confirm Registration

Step 1: Navigate to SOAR
Navigate to soar.svcc.edu. From the Sauk website, you can select SOAR from the Quick Jump menu. If you have a smaller, high resolution monitor, you might see the hamburger menu icon (3 horizontal lines). Clicking the icon will open a menu and you can access the Quick Jump Menu from there.Step 2: Log into SOAR
If you have never logged in, go to “Look up/Change Password” first and follow the prompts. Once password is set, go back to SOAR and login.Step 3: Click on "Student Services (including Financial Aid)" link
Step 4: Click on "Student Registration and Planning"
Step 5: Click on "Register for Classes"
The 'Register for Classes' option can be found in the bottom left corner.Step 6: Log In Again
The system will have you login again with your Sauk Login Username/Password.
Step 7: Select Your Term
Select the appropriate term.Step 8: (OPTIONAL) If it Prompts for an Alternate PIN
- If given an Alternate PIN from your Academic Advisor, enter in PIN and click Continue
- If you do not have an Alternate PIN, contact your assigned Academic Advisor or call 815-835-6354
Step 9: Click on "Enter CRNs"
Click on the Enter CRNs tab (or the Find Classes tab if you need to search for a specific class)Step 10: Add Classes
Once the CRN or class information is entered, click Add to Summary.
Repeat this process if you need to add multiple classes, until all classes are added. You will see a 'Summary Box' in the bottom right corner with all the class information.
Step 11: Submit!
Click 'Submit' in the bottom right corner to complete Registration.
Step 12: (IMPORTANT) Confirm Registration
Once submitted, the top right corner will display any messages. It is important to verify that it comes up in a green box that says Save Successful -- (You can also look in the Summary Box to verify that it says Registered next to each class).
